                   Foster Parent Support & Youth Care Specialist

Worksite Location: Hood River
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week - M-F; 9am-5pm          
Salary Range: $19.50-$23.50 per hour
Reports to: Klahre House Program Manager

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for someone who is reflective, respectful, intuitive, honest and self-motivated. We’re looking for someone who is able to connect and build trust quickly with a variety of people. We’re also looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, knows how to prioritize tasks and can work independently as well as part of a team.
What you will do…

  • Provide information to our communities in Hood River and Wasco Counties about therapeutic foster care.  Recruit new homes to support youth ages 6-18 years old in our day treatment and community based programs.  Respond to all inquiries within reasonable timelines (preferably no more than 48 business hours), give public presentations and act as a resource for foster recruitment.
  • Provided ongoing support and guidance to existing foster homes and act as liaison between homes and providers.
  • Coordinate respite care for youth and be responsible for records to assure compliance with funders.  Coordinate monthly trainings for foster parents and assure annual training needs are met.
  • Collaborate with foster parent certifier to train and onboard new homes.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, dependability, punctuality and conscientiousness.
  • Observe confidentiality of clients and fellow team members.
  • Approving and ensuring accuracy of foster parent timecards.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Education and Experience you need…
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, communications or other closely related field
  • Experience in foster care preferred—either professional or personal
  • Experience with “at risk” youth
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to use computer programs and databases
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
