Strengthening, Preserving, and Reunifying Families
 
Worksite Location: Primarily working in the Hood River and The Dalles community, some remote capabilities
Work Schedule: Part Time 20 hours per week
Salary Range: $ 17.77- $22.23
Reports to: Youth and In Home Services Program Manager

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for someone who is able to connect and build trust quickly with others from all walks of life. Someone who loves to help others and is reflective, respectful, intuitive, honest and self-motivated. A good fit will be someone who enjoys and has experience supporting the health and well being of children and families through teaching, modeling, guiding, and connecting with other community resources. A person who is reliable, organized, knows how to prioritize tasks and can work both independently as well as part of a team.
 
What you will do…

  • Accept referrals from Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) Child Welfare during “normal business hours” (8-5, M-F)
  • Respond to the referral and initiate contact with family within business 5 days
  • Provide home based services that will last approximately one hour
  • Create service plans based on information provided by ODHS and client’s identified goals
  • Teach skills related to home management, organization, and job readiness; model and coach parenting strategies, problem solving and coping skills; complete referrals for other community services related to housing, medical appointments, education, and food assistance; help clients with job and housing searches; and transportation to appointments. Some services will be provided in collaboration with the Strengthening, Preserving, and Reunifying Families (SPRF) mental health provider.
  • Assist families in communication with the Oregon Department of Human Services and maintain frequent contact with case workers via phone, email, and other meetings
  • Assess home safety, strengths, and areas of improvement to be addressed through services
  • Maintain chart notes on each individual or family session using concurrent documentation
  • Provide monthly progress summaries and closing reports
  • Keep client files current and up to date as required
  • Coordinate with other service providers, schools and involved individuals and agencies
  • Encourage positive community relations by personal appearance and behavior in the community
  • Special projects as assigned by Youth and In Home Program Manager
Skills and Competencies you’ll need…
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of the challenges of child welfare involved families
  • Patience, excellent listening skills, initiative, ability to build relationships, team player
 
Education and Experience required…
  • HS Diploma or AA degree; Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • Experience in working with child welfare, families, and children
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred
