Disease Intervention Specialist/Community Health Specialist

North Central Public Health District is looking for a Disease Intervention Specialist/Community Health Specialist who will function as a member of a Covid-19 response team responsible for the investigation, prevention and control of infectious disease, including routine notifiable disease surveillance and outbreak investigations; work with community providers to maintain quality control of surveillance data; participate in public health education about communicable diseases for the pubic and other health providers; conduct routine infectious disease case surveillance and field epidemiologic investigations; perform outbreak investigations; provide risk reduction counseling to cases and their contacts; link cases and their contact to medical care and other services; may prepare and disseminate reports and disease summaries.
 
This is a full-time, Temporary 6-month position (may be extended depending on Covid-19 funding & needs); $3,414.06 to $4,149.83/monthly + Benefits.  The normal work week for this position is Monday through Friday, however there may be times when it will be required to work an evening or weekend shift at a Covid-19 vaccine clinic.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or epidemiology or related field preferred, or;
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training relevant to the position.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local communicable disease reporting requirements and epidemiology.
  • Understand basics of COVID-19 transmission and infection control.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Perform and assist in the collection, analysis interpretation and evaluation of data
  • Read, interpret and analyze technical, medical, demographic and statistical data and laboratory reports.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with personnel at all levels of the health district, private medical provides, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports and other written materials, includes tables and graphs
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
