Many of us take the same route to and from work, school, and home every day. When we fall into ruts with this pattern it can be helpful to take a different route. Taking a different route opens up our mind and creates new connections in the brain. It also makes us more aware of our surroundings and helps us be more present in the moment. This increased mindfulness helps us feel more positive, alert and can help us increase our brain health.
Even taking the same route but doing it a bit differently can work in a similar way. If you usually blast music at a loud volume, try turning it off. If you usually drive try riding a bike. Make yourself take notice of your surroundings.
Have a happy commute!
